Frequently Asked Questions
Will SecureView screens block my view or make my home feel closed in?
Not at all and in fact, most people are surprised by how clear the view is once they’re installed. The mesh has a fine weave that’s almost invisible from inside your home, so you can still take in your garden, street or surrounding views without feeling boxed in. The beauty of SecureView is that you get the protection without the “bars on the windows” look as it’s strong security that blends seamlessly into your home’s design.
Can I still get fresh air through these screens?
Absolutely and that’s one of the main reasons people choose them. The mesh is designed to allow excellent airflow, so you can leave your doors and windows open to let the breeze through while keeping out flies, mozzies and other unwanted visitors at bay. On a warm summer evening, you can enjoy that fresh air without worrying about safety or insect invasions.
How do SecureView screens perform in coastal or high humidity areas?
They have actually been designed with this environment in mind. SecureView uses 316 Marine Grade stainless steel, which is the same quality steel used on luxury yachts, so you know it can handle salty sea air. It’s far more corrosion resistant than 304 stainless steel, which is what many cheaper screens are made from. Whether you live right on the coast or in a humid climate, these screens are built to resist rust, discolouration and the kind of wear and tear that lesser products can’t handle.
Are SecureView screens bushfire-rated?
Yes, they’re tested and rated up to BAL 30 which means they’re suitable for use in bushfire prone areas and offer an extra line of defence against flying embers, sparks and debris during a fire. Even if you’re not in a bushfire zone, knowing your screens can handle extreme conditions is a great reassurance.
Can these screens help with child safety?
This is a fantastic option for parents, especially in multi-storey homes as the screens meet the “Kids Don’t Fly” building code requirements, which means they’re impact resistant and can help prevent falls from upstairs windows. This allows you to open your windows for ventilation without having to use those clunky window restrictors that limit how much fresh air you get.
How secure are the locks on SecureView doors?
They are extremely secure and they come standard with a three-point locking system, which means the door locks at the top, middle and bottom. This spreads the locking points across the frame, making it much harder to force open compared to a single lock. It’s the kind of extra detail that gives you peace of mind when you lock up at night.
Will my SecureView screens need much maintenance?
They’re very low maintenance, but they’ll last even longer if you give them a little care every now and then. We usually recommend giving them a gentle wash with mild soapy water and a soft cloth every few months or more often if you live right by the ocean. This keeps the mesh and frame free from dirt and salt build up, ensuring they look great and perform at their best for many years.
Can I have SecureView fitted to any type of door or window?
Almost certainly as they are custom made, they can fitted to pretty much any door or window type, from sliding, hinged and stacking doors to fixed and sliding windows – you name it. We can also integrate features like pet doors or emergency escape openings if you need them. The flexibility means you can protect your whole home with a consistent, stylish look.
Can you cut through SecureView mesh with a knife?
SecureView has passed the Australian Standards Knife Shear Test, which means the mesh resists cutting and slashing. The stainless steel strands are tightly woven and bonded to the frame using advanced adhesive technology, so even a determined attempt with a sharp blade won’t get through.
Does a heavier mesh mean better security?
Not necessarily as strength isn’t just about thickness, it’s about the quality of the material, the weave and how the mesh is secured in the frame. SecureView’s 0.8mm 316 Marine Grade stainless steel is exceptionally strong while still allowing excellent visibility and airflow. Many heavier meshes are made from inferior materials that can corrode or break down over time.
